Besides, this important personal detail should only be used on high level documentation, such as that from a trusted organization. Preferably, even then, it should be for travel related matters, such as making group travel arrangements or bookings.

If you already have such an important form in from of you, and need the number to fill it; then read below to find the answer.

Where Is Document Number On Passport?

Your document number on your passport is located on the top right hand corner of the information page on your passport. The information page is where you have your picture (on the left), and your name, date of birth, as well as the date of issuance of the passport.

The document number on your passport is the same as your passport number. It is usually an 8-9 digit number, it varies from passport to passport, but it appears that most passports have 9 digits.

The most important thing is that you find it at the top right hand corner of your passport information page. It stands apart, and is quite boldly written. Above it, in smaller print, you find the words; “Passport No./No. da Passport/No. de Passport.”

Document Number on A Passport Card

The passport card is a relatively new document, and so there are still more questions about it than answers. This is a small card, about the size of a credit card, that can be used as a means of identification, but also to facilitate travel; especially to the US, and territories.

Like the passport booklet, it also has a Passport Card Number, which in this case would serve as the Document Number. On the Passport Card, the document number is usually an 8 or 9 digit number, and is preceded by an alphabet.

While most people have either a Passport Booklet or a Passport Card, it is possible to have both at the same time. It is important to note that the Passport Booklet, and the Passport Card will have different numbers. This is because while they may belong to the same person, they are different documents, and are issued for slightly different reasons.

Please note that you cannot use both at the same time, and for the same purpose. If you are filling a form which requires you to provide a document number from your passport, please ensure that you are going to present exactly the same document from which you have taken the document number.

Alternative Document Numbers

In most cases, people are asked to provide their passport document numbers as a way of identifying themselves.
